It all starts with a list.
A sex list.
Cassie Michaels comes up with a list of naughty experiences to impress her sisters and finally convince them—and herself—she’s not just a boring soil scientist. Unfortunately, it also makes Cassie a liar if she doesn’t tick off at least some of the kinky exploits before her sister’s bachelorette party. Luckily, she’s found just the man to help her, starting with number four—sex with an anonymous stranger.
As the owner of a chain of computer shops, Simon Traxel doesn’t deal with mundane repairs, but when a brunette with killer green eyes and a list of sexploits frozen across her computer screen shows up at one of his shops, he’s ready to get a little hands on.
Simon’s more than willing to have some fun helping Cassie turn her made-up adventures into reality. Between steamy public romps that go hilariously awry, and sexy antics with kitchen utensils, getting through a to-do list has never been this much fun. But nearing the last few items means nearing the end of their time together, and Simon isn’t ready to let her go…

A soil scientist and computer tech star in one of the funniest, sexiest, sweetest romances, The List by Tawna Fenske, available now. The List has already earned a spot on my best of 2017 list — and it’s only January! I’m not exaggerating – this book is actual LOL funny. And sexy, sooooo sexy.
Maybe a girl with a Ph.D. in soil science and a tech geek don’t sound like the traditional players to “work” through a list of dirty fantasies (aka Super awesome wild-ass (holy shit they’re gonna kill me) sex stuff to figure out before D-day… By Cassondra R. Michaels). Which is exactly why they are the perfect pair to do so! Cassie and Simon are so well matched – their intelligence, humor, and passion (not just for each other, but their devotion to family and their careers). AND REAL! There were times I wanted to reach into my Kindle and shake them until they acknowledged their happiness was worth the risk that comes with a committed relationship.
Simon withholds parts of himself from Cassie because he is both scared and scarred by past expectations and experiences. His main goal is to protect his special needs sister from getting too close to a woman who might not stay in his life, as past experiences have shown him that women like his bank account but not the normalcy of the life he prefers to live and his dedication to his sister. Simon never set out to lie to Cassie but soon it became too late to fill in the blanks without damaging what they had.
I have to give a shout out to poor Cassie on this point – Simon introduced himself to her and Cassie completely blanked on remembering his last name. Being confronted by a “Hottie McGeekerson” can do that to a gal. When her sisters wanted more info on Simon, she stumbles:
“Simon—Simon Glass,” I say.“His name is Simon Glass.” Oh my God. I realize I’ve just blatantly stolen this from an old Brady Bunch episode where Jan Brady invents a fake boyfriend named George Glass. I say a silent prayer my sisters won’t remember this. They were always more interested in watching the Home and Garden network anyway.
I get it, Cassie, there’s only a certain window where it isn’t creepy to ask a guy to repeat his last name. (Been there, done that. Cured the problem by marrying the guy 😉)
Author Tawna Fenske does an excellent job with both Cassie and Simon’s voices; she compares his eyes to dirt and hers remind him of a beer bottle (“Then she looks up and hits me with the full force of green eyes the color of a Heineken bottle.”) – classic! Really, the way she infuses Cassie’s interests into her inner dialogue is a riot!
The tortoiseshell glasses he wears frame brown eyes the exact color of undrained alluvial silt. That sounded sexier in my mind.
His shoulder is touching mine, and I’m aware of just how hard he is everywhere—how amazing he smells. Like Jory soil and clover in the sunshine, which I swear is much more awesome than it sounds.
The family relationships play a larger role in this novel than I was expected – and it’s all the better for it, although I would have like to know a bit about Cassie’s parents. I was expecting a fun, sexy romp from
I was expecting a fun, sexy romp from The List and Tawna Fenske delivered, while also gracing us with well-rounded and nuanced characters.
