What fun is life without a little bit of trouble?

Retired supermodel and forever wild child Olivia Sweet is nothing but trouble. The youngest Sweet triplet is back in her hometown, but instead of a triumphant return it’s a parade of humiliations. She’s broke, homeless and dealing with the fallout from her scumbag ex-boyfriend publishing naked pictures of her to a revenge porn website.

Staid and stalwart veteran Mateo Garcia has seen more trouble than a man ever should in his lifetime. He’s gone from pretty boy Marine to a small town police chief with a chip on his shoulder and scars covering the left side of his face. Now his former lover, Olivia, is back in town and living next door.

When the two are forced to work together to fix up the crumbling veterans’ center, the sparks fly between the beauty and the man who sees himself as a beast. Not everyone is happy that Olivia is back home though and Mateo has to choose between the town who wants her gone and an uncertain future with a woman who he thinks could never love him…

My Thoughts:

Small town living has many perks – unless you come from a long line of “moonshiners, cattle thieves, and ne-er-do-wells”, then memories are forever and gossip is cruel. The Sweet triplets of Salvation, Virginia have learned this lesson the hard way, and none harder than the youngest and wildest triplet, Olivia. Each sister has earned success away from their small-minded hometown but return to run their family’s legacy, Sweet Salvation Brewery. The timing of her new position with the brewery could not have come at a better time for Olivia, as she’s reached a personal and professional low. Her sisters’ new loving relationships (featured in books 1 and 2 of the series, Enemies on Tap and Hollywood on Tap) only underscore Olivia’s loneliness.

Long in love with her best friends brother, Mateo Garcia, with whom she once shared a steamy friends-with-benefits relationship, Olivia returns to Salvation to learn the town hasn’t changed but, unfortunately, Mateo has. Once cocky and attentive, a war-time tragedy has left Mateo scarred, physically and emotionally. Now Salvation’s police chief, Mateo is surly and withdrawn; he’s unable to handle the regret and longing Olivia’s appearance brings with her. Determined to improve her family’s reputation, Olivia, with the reluctant assistance of Mateo, sets out to raise money for the local Veterans Center. Prejudice and ugliness stand in her way – and perhaps Mateo too.

Olivia Sweet is a beautiful, voluptuous former model who transitioned successfully into a public relations career. She’s been judged by her looks her entire life and understands, more than anyone else in Mateo’s life, that looks aren’t everything. Mateo defined his personal life since injury by the scars on his face, refusing to even address the damage to his psyche and resulting PTSD. His insistence on pushing Olivia away was painful to read, especially since they were so physically drawn to each other. His back and forth, push and pull was exhausting. Mateo’s POV told us he loved Olivia, but the writing (and thereby his actions) didn’t always show it. His character would have been better served by sharing a few of those tender moments he spent with his the dog with Olivia. Not that I didn’t love that silly mutt – and Handsome the three-legged cat.

The Sweet Salvation Brewery and the small town of Salvation serve as great backdrops to the romantic entanglements of the Sweet sisters, infusing the story with local color and interest. In Trouble on Tap, Author Avery Flynn weaves a lovely tale of two passionate people who prove to the world, and themselves, that they are more than their looks. Curling up with Trouble on Tap and a cold beer are a great way to pass a summer evening!

About Avery Flynn:

AFlynnShoes-1-230x344Avery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.

She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staffs knew her by name.

Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.
